In Jeju Island, Omegi Rice cake is a well-known souvenir for koreans as traditional snacks from Jeju Island. Omegi Tteok is round balls of glutinous millet dough that has been boiled then covered in bean powder or mashed red bean. Actually many kinds of omegi rice cakes you can find and it also depends on the stores. Basically, there are 4 Kinds of Omegi Rice Cakes such as rice cake with red bean paste in it : rice cake covered by Seeds 씨앗 두른거 and red beans 통팟 두른 거 and also rice cake with the whole red bean paste filling : rice cake covered by bean flour 콩가루 and black sesame powder 검은깨가루. if you purchase the rice cakes, they need to be stored in the freezer. Normally, they will pack the Tteok in a styrofoam container and put the ice packs inside, they also will give you ice packs and some dry ice packs and tell you it would be fine for 24 hours. Upon arrviving in your destination, it is recommended to immediately put in the freezer then you can have it for 3-4 days. As for a piece of rice cake is ranging from 1.500 won – 2.500 won and for one box of rice cakes ranges from 25.000 won – 40.000 won.
